What Makes Anthem MRX Different?
If you’re looking to upgrade your music experience in 2020, there are plenty of great ways to do it. Control4’s latest operating system, OS 3, puts a lot of entertainment value in the palm of your hand, thanks to new features and native Tidal Masters integration. A Sonos amp can turn any high-end speakers into wireless ones. And Beosound blends whole-home audio components with interior decor like never before. But if you’re looking to start small, you can’t go wrong with an Anthem AV receiver. Here, we’ll tell you what you need to know to get better sound, more power, and an incredible listening experience this year in your home in Honolulu or elsewhere in Hawaii.

Anthem MRX
The Anthem MRX line features three modes, the 520, 720, and 1120, each supporting multi-channel surround sound and two subwoofers. The 520 offers five channels, 720 offers seven, and 1120, as you can guess, supports 11. But what makes Anthem MRX special isn’t the number of channels it supports; it’s that Anthem puts the power over room correction in the palm of your hand.
Anthem Room Correction, or ARC, is different from some of the room calibration software you'll find in other manufacturers' products. It offers more sophistication and detail with easy-to-understand PC and app-based interfaces that allow intricate capabilities to the user. Anthem includes a PC-connectable microphone with each MRX unit that enables users to calibrate their system efficiently.
You can use the microphone with the windows version of the software, or you can download the corresponding app and use your smartphone’s hardware. The app is a bit easier to use for less experienced users but will still offer a robust selection of room calibration options that take into account ceiling, curtains, and other factors that aren’t normally accommodated.
Additionally, you can rely on the premium, 32-bit DAC featuring 768 kH differential output, analog, and digital connections, seven HDMI 2.0 inputs, and two outputs for the 520. The 720 offers 140 watts per channel and Dolby Atmos capabilities. And the 1120 supports a full 7.2.4 Atmos surround sound system.
